We Are Ready For Old Man Winter To Go Away

Earlier this week we were going through our photos and came across some we had taken during the summer months. I'm sure we're not the only ones wishing Old Man Winter would blow on out of here. Like a lot of folks, we're craving the warm weather, bare feet, green grass and lots of time outdoors.

A Chilly Afternoon At K9 1-ON-1

Mother Nature is a feisty one and hasn't given us too many mild winter days as of late. When the temps are frigid, we keep toasty warm inside. There's plenty of room to play, nap and the sweet pups enjoy the warmth of the cracklin' fire.

A Little K9 1-ON-1 Love

One of the many things we take pride in here at K9 1-ON-1 is the family style environment. It's all about the love. Whether it's afternoon walks, playtime or a little snuggle time, there's no shortage of love for the fur babies.

Dexter Wants To Say Hi

Dexter wanted to say hi, but it was too cold and snowy outside. We had to improvise. What a handsome boy!

Make Your Own Dip-Dyed Ombre Lease

Ombre is IN! Whether it's hair or apparel, the layers of a color that graduates in tone has topped the charts of both trendy and fabulous. So...with all the hoopla of all things ombre, we ask, "Why should the hoomans be having all the fashion fun?"

Homemade Zucchini Parmesan Treats

Our fur babies are a lot like "hooman" kids in the sense that it's hard to get 'em to eat their vegetables. They'll happily snack on sweet treats and frozen confections, but when it's time to sneak some veggies in...forget it!

What Cleaners Are Pet Friendly?

Housework. It's something we all do several times a week especially with fur kids in the house. Keeping a clean house is a never ending chore. Most of us have a designated spot where we keep all the cleaners. They're tucked somewhere safe and out of reach from both the "hooman" and fur kids.  Keeping cleaners out of reach is one way to keep everyone safe however, there's another safety measure we all need to pay attention to. What's IN our cleaners.

A Few More K9 1-ON-1 Updates

The K9 1-ON-1 shop has come a long way in the past few months! There's still a big job or two to be done and some final touches to lay out, but it's looking good! And yes, we have a little office space.

Thank You Cooper & Kicsi

The other day we were going through photos. We have a few thousand photos that we've taken over the past several months. While taking a tiny excursion down memory lane, we came across these two.

Deciphering Pet Food Labels

If you've ever looked at food labels for human food you already know how confusing it can be. Aside from trying to pronounce some of the ingredients, you have to contend with terms like organic, gluten free, kosher, whole wheat, whole grain, all natural, etc. You often wonder what the guidelines are for companies to use these terms on labels.

Dog Proofing Your Home

If you have children, you know the importance of child-proofing your home. Parents go to great lengths to make sure the living environment is safe. This includes padding sharp edged furniture, safety locks, outlet covers, moving cleaners to higher cabinets, etc.

In The Spotlight - Lulu Parks

Meet Lulu Parks...a beautiful black lab. She became part of a wonderful & loving family at only 10 weeks old. The Parks family fell in love with her from the first moment she came into their sight.

Lulu lived the first 7 years of her life in North Carolina. The Parks family moved back to Connecticut in October of 2013 to be closer to family. As responsible fur baby owners, Carmen and John secured an apartment that allowed dogs before they left North Carolina. After a long ride up the east coast, Carmen, John and Lulu arrived. Much to their surprise and dismay, the apartment was no longer available for them.

Homemade Carrot & Parsley Dog Cookies

Often times we've posted delicious DIY dog treats that are made with pumpkin, apples, peanut butter, berries, etc. We're all fond of these sweet treats and the fur babies are certainly head over paws for these gourmet goodies.

The Temps Are Going To Drop

It's almost here! They are calling this deep freeze the Polar Vortex and we'll be seeing temperatures below zero. Top that off with some gusty winds and it could get as cold as 20 below 0. With this being said, we want to remind everyone to keep your fur babies inside. It's too cold to have them out for any length of time. Please stay safe and warm during the big chill!

A Little Something For The Pet Parents

Have you ever had someone look at you funny when you refer to your dog as a fur kid? Do people gently hint around that you take too many photos of your cat? Is it normal for you to talk about Fido as much as your bestie talks about her newborn? If the answer is yes, you're not alone.

What Does A Yellow Ribbon On A Leash Mean?

In this day and age, colored ribbons are used to show your support for various things. One color can represent various meanings. This extends to pet parents as well...though most aren't aware. If you were to see a pet parent walking their pup on a leash adorned with a yellow ribbon would you know what it meant? Some folks would think it's tied on for decoration or to bling things up. It's quite the opposite.

Looks Like We're Gettin' A Winter Storm

The tentative totals are in and it looks like our area is going to get slammed with a heavy pounding of the white stuff. While most of us know snow totals are never etched in granite, it's safe to say we'll see quite a bit of snow. Top that off with frigid temps and some high winds...it's inevitable that roads will be closed and businesses will shut down early.
