Meet Cody

Cody is from New Hampshire and loves chasing after the people that walk past his house. In fact a few people would not walk back by to go home...... if only they knew that he wanted to kiss them to death. We love you Cody please give your family a big wet kiss for us.

Summer Pet Pitfalls: Keep Your Pets Safe

Protect your furry friend from these common hot-weather hazards.Drowning
Pets that love splashing around in water require vigilant supervision. Some dogs will overexert themselves and then not have the strength to get out of the water. Also, consider your dog's health and age: An overweight or older animal may have more trouble swimming than he had in his fitter, younger days.
Cause for concern: If you see your pet struggling to stay afloat, hook his collar with a pole or provide a raft he can crawl onto and pull him to safety. If he's not breathing, administer CPR.
To keep your pet safe: Animals should never be left alone in or near water. If you take your pet swimming or on a boat ride, suit him with a life jacket and let him play in the water for just a few minutes at a time.

Have Pet, Will Travel

Kathy and Mark Wille of Hamilton, New Jersey, dreaded vacation because they had to leave their two golden retrievers behind. They resigned themselves to dogless travel until they discovered a pet-friendly inn in Cape May, New Jersey. "Vacations are true family vacations now," says Kathy, who appreciates not worrying about how her dogs are faring back home with the pet sitter.

How to Adopt a Pet from an Animal Shelter

The recession is tough—even for pets. In 2010, 91 percent of shelters reported an increase in animals as cash-strapped owners gave up their four-legged companions. To make matters worse, adoption rates have declined. "Many pets across the country are in need of homes," says Arthur Hazlewood, director of the ASPCA's New York City Adoption Center.

Puppy Training 101

 1. Pooch-proof your pad.
Before you bring the dog home, make sure your house is safe. Clear low surfaces of any items like magazines and decorations, and talk to your kids about the importance of cleaning up small toys that your pup could choke on. Next, put up pet gates in doorways you don't want him to cross. And consider enrolling in a prep class. "Many animal shelters offer pet parenting classes as part of the adoption process or at no cost," says Owens.

We have just a few photos left and would like to invite you all to send in some more. Everyone is welcome to send in photos, whether you are a first timer or you have already sent in photos. We like to feature pups that are known to our followers, not just pulled of the web. So feel free to continue to send in photos whenever you feel like seeing your pup in the spotlight.  Please send them to
