Can Dogs Suffer From Allergies?

This morning I woke up and it felt as if I had swallowed a mouthful of sand.  Yesterday, I was plagued with itchy & watery eyes.  It's fall allergy season and this year it's hitting people hard.

I've also heard various concerns from dog owners who are noticing their furbaby scratching more than usual.  Fleas? No. Ticks. No. Allergies? Yes.

Huh?

Like humans, dogs suffer from allergies too and they tend to hit the hardest during the spring and fall months.  Symptoms can include red itchy skin, constant licking, paw chewing, sneezing, itchy ears, etc.  With the constant scratching and licking, dogs can also suffer from secondary infections that can cause hair loss and scabs.
